Kerala : The God’s own Country. Korangotta : A small island where god’s own children, whom Gandhiji called Harijans, along lives. An Ambedkar Village, where there is not even a meter of tarred road. Where there are no bicycles, let alone motor vehicles.. Where there is not even a primary health centre.. Where there is not even a ration shop, let alone Wall mart.. Perhaps, this may be the only island of his sort in the world in this 21st century. There are no other modern facilities. Even for food stuff they have to go to the main land. This is a ferry without a ferryman and School-going children suffer the most. They also find it difficult to ferry sick people and many have died due to the delay.The Villagers say : “If we had a small bridge, we could bring an ambulance and reach the hospital soon. We could take the ailing people across.Children could go for studies. We do not need a big bridge..Even a suspension bridge would do …. Years ago, Korangotta village constituted a fertile paddy field owned by the affluent people in Kochi. Its inmates are the descendents of those agricultural laborers who were brought work in these fields and allowed to settle down there to toil during day and night. In the course of time the paddy fields turned into more money-yielding prawn farms but rendered the agricultural laborers jobless. They became owners of four cents of lands each and left with high odds to bear with. Though its existence is in the near vicinity of Kochi, the Smart City, their lot is extreme poverty and hunger. ‘Kaiyethum doorathu kannumanattu’ is all about the sorrows of this Harijan villegers. This film is the Sixth project in our author films series. The language of this film is malayalam ang has a duration of 20 minutes. 'Kaiyethum doorathu kannumanattu' was shot in january to march 2010 and completed in june 2010.
